Visiting

NICOSIA
NICOSIA

Day 1: NICOSIA

Meeting at Sabiha Gökçen Airport’s international departure terminal in front of the THY counter. After completing our ticket and baggage procedures, we depart for Nicosia and arrive at Ercan Airport. After passport and entry procedures, we meet our group and board our bus accompanied by our guide. Our first stop is the Shrine of the Forty Martyrs, which houses the graves of 40 companions who were martyred during Islamic invasions in Cyprus in the 7th century. We start our tour with this spiritual visit, and then proceed to Nicosia. We begin by visiting the Boğaz Martyrs’ Cemetery to pay respects to the 330 martyrs of 1974. Then, we visit the Barbarism Museum, which is a preserved house where Major Nihat Ilhan's wife and three children were tragically killed in the bathtub. We continue with a panoramic view of the Green Line and move on to the Nicosia Walled City tour. We start by getting off the bus at the monumental Kyrenia Gate and continue our tour on foot, visiting the Cyprus Turkish History, Culture, and National Struggle Museum. We also visit the Mevlevi Tekke, Samanbahçe Houses, Sarayönü Square, Dikilitaş, and see the Lokmaci Border Gate, which divides Arasta Bazaar in two. The tour ends with free time at Büyük Han. We regroup at the appointed time and transfer to our hotel in Nicosia for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: FAMAGUSTA

After breakfast, we board our bus for a city tour of Famagusta. During our tour of the historical walled city of Famagusta, we visit Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque, Namık Kemal Dungeon, the Venetian Palace, and the ancient sycamore tree. We visit the shrine of Kutup Osman and the Cyprus - Gallipoli Martyrs’ Monument, followed by a tour of Varosha (Kapalı Maraş), which came under Turkish control in 1974 during the Cyprus Peace Operation. This eerie "Ghost Town" was once a major entertainment and vacation hub. We also visit the Bilal Aga Foundation mosque and buildings from 1813 within the area. Continuing our tour, we visit the Martyr Villages in the Famagusta region, including Atlılar, Muratağa, and Sandallar villages, where 126 innocent civilians were tragically killed by the EOKA organization in 1974. The heartbreaking story and the village school-turned-museum will leave a deep impact. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 3: KYRENIA - LEFKE

After breakfast and check-out, we board the bus with our belongings. Our first stop in Kyrenia is a visit to the Tomb of Commander Hazrat Omar, followed by a visit to the Karaoğlanoğlu region, the site of the 1974 Cyprus landing operation. We tour the Ship Museum, Veteran Helicopter, Peace and Freedom Museum, Open Air Museum, and Martyrs’ Cemetery. We continue on the Güzelyurt – Lefke road, stopping for a photo at the Geçitköy Dam, an engineering marvel bringing water from Turkey through an underwater pipeline, dubbed the "Project of the Century." With the deep blue sea on one side and lush citrus groves on the other, we are welcomed by Güzelyurt, where our first stop is the Memorial of Turkey’s First Air Martyr Cengiz Topel. We visit his memorial and museum, followed by a visit to the mine area left by the CMC mining company, where our guide explains its history and ongoing effects. Moving on to the Ottoman town of Lefke, we are taken back in time by the historic mansions and bay-windowed houses. Here, we visit the Dergah and tomb of Sheikh Nazim al-Qubrusi, a figure integral to Cyprus’ identity. After a time for reflection, we head to Jumbo Shopping Center in Nicosia. Following our shopping break, we proceed to Ercan Airport for our flight back to Istanbul. After completing ticket and baggage procedures at theTHY counter, we depart for Istanbul, arriving at Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Welcome back!
