TUNIS

Day 1: TUNIS

Our journey begins at Istanbul New Airport's International Terminal, where we gather for departure. After completing passport and customs procedures, we board our Tunisair flight to Tunis. Upon landing at Tunis Carthage Airport, we board our awaiting vehicle and head to our first destination, the ancient city of Carthage. Founded by the Phoenicians, Carthage is a vast archaeological site located on a hill overlooking the Gulf of Tunis and the surrounding plains, showcasing a fascinating history. After exploring this important ancient site, we begin our city tour of Tunis.

In the old city of Tunis Medina, we visit landmarks such as Bab El Bahar Gate, Zaytouna Mosque, and Yusuf Dey Mosque. Next, we visit the house where Ibn Khaldun (1332–1406), a renowned historian, sociologist, philosopher, and one of the most influential thinkers in Islamic and world intellectual history, was born. We also see the Ukba Mosque, where he received his first education. After visiting the tombs of Ottoman beys at Tourbet El Bey, we explore the modern face of the city with a pleasant stroll along French Street and Habib Bourguiba Avenue. At the end of the day, we head to Hammamet, Tunisia's tourist hub. After dinner, we check in to our hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2: HAMMAMET - KAIROUAN

After breakfast at the hotel, we set off for Kairouan, one of the oldest cities of Islamic civilization, founded by Ukba ibn Nafi. Kairouan holds great significance as the first city in Africa where Islam was introduced, the site of the first mosque built on the continent, and where the first call to prayer was made.

Here, we visit the Aghlabid Pools, the tomb of Abu Zama El Balawi, Ukba Mosque, and Barouta Well. After exploring the rich historical and cultural heritage of Kairouan, we continue to the city of El Jem to marvel at the stunning Roman amphitheater dating back to the 3rd century.

Our next stop is Sousse, a city on the Mediterranean coast renowned for its olive oil and textile production. In the Sousse Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we explore its maze-like narrow streets, which have retained their historical charm while being shielded from modern development. We visit Sousse Mosque and its fortress before heading to the picturesque Port El Kantaoui, known for its cobblestone streets and white-and-blue Tunisian-style architecture. After completing our tour, we return to Hammamet, enjoy dinner, and stay overnight at our hotel.

Day 3: HAMMAMET - MAHDIA

After breakfast at the hotel, we head to Mahdia, one of the Ottoman Empire’s significant cities along the Mediterranean coast. In Mahdia, we visit the Burj El-Kebir Ottoman Fortress, one of the largest Ottoman structures built in 1595. We also explore the Great Mosque of Mahdia, constructed during the Fatimid period in 916, the old city's iconic gate, Skifa Kahla, and the Medina’s historic charm.

After completing our visits in Mahdia, we proceed to the historic city of Monastir, situated along the Tunisian coast. Here, we visit the Monastir Ribat, a grand fortress complex by the sea. As one of Tunisia’s oldest and best-preserved fortresses, this structure, initially built for defense in the Middle Ages, has become a major historical and tourist attraction.

Following our Monastir tour, we visit the Habib Bourguiba Mausoleum, dedicated to Tunisia’s first president. Later, we return to Hammamet, where we enjoy the town’s unique atmosphere, featuring white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, lush gardens, and the jasmine fragrance that permeates the city. After exploring the Medina, we return to the hotel for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 4: HAMMAMET - NABEUL

After breakfast at the hotel, we head to Nabeul, a city famed for its exquisite ceramics and pottery. Here, we visit pottery workshops and shops before exploring the Medina’s vibrant streets. Next, we travel to the Bardo Museum, one of Tunisia’s most significant cultural landmarks. Established in 1888, the museum boasts an impressive collection, making it one of the Mediterranean’s most valuable museums and the second-largest museum in Africa after the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Known as the world’s largest mosaic museum, Bardo dazzles visitors with its hundreds of stunning mosaics displayed across numerous halls.

Following our museum tour, we proceed to Sidi Bou Said, a charming village perched on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean. Known for its cobblestone streets, blue-and-white houses, frescoed cafes, Tunisian restaurants, and small art galleries, Sidi Bou Said offers a mystical and picturesque atmosphere. We explore the enchanting streets of this village before heading to the airport for our flight back to Istanbul, completing our memorable tour.
