Commissioned by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died giving birth to their 14th child, this masterpiece of marble architecture was built between 1632–1652. Ottoman architects Mehmed Isa and Mehmed Ismail Efendi, students of Mimar Sinan, also contributed to its construction. Inside, we visit the tombs of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, followed by the guesthouse and mosque located beside the Taj Mahal.

Next, we tour Agra Fort, built by Emperor Akbar. Afterwards, we drive to Fatehpur Sikri (35 km), a desert city built in 1569 to commemorate the birth of Akbar’s son, later abandoned due to water shortages. From the Turkmen Gate, we take rickshaws through the lively streets to visit the tombs of Hazrat Sheikh Abdullah Dehlawi (ks.) and Hazrat Shamsuddin Jan-i Janan Mazhar (ks.).
